The Final Patrol

Lord, these departed shipmates with dolphins on their chest,

Are a part of an outfit known as the very best.

Make them welcome and take them by the hand,

You'll find without a doubt they were the best in all the land.

So, heavenly Father, add their names to the roll,

Of our departed shipmates still on patrol.

Let them know that we who survive,

Will always keep their memories alive.

My name is Cass Baker. My father, Jimmy Baker, passed away 12/17/04.

He retired in 1980 after 25 years. He also retired MS E-7.I read his service record, and I was mistaken. It was 1965,

not 1966 as I orginally thought. He was assigned to the Carver. I still have his Poster of the sub out to sea, and his

wall plaque. When he retired, he was documented to have spent 18years and four months on Patrols. His service

record stated that was 1 of 3 who had 20 or more Patrols. He was, as I am, very proud of that.
